Life and stage
Born in Stepanavan, he developed his career in Yerevan's theatre world, including the Sundukyan Theatre. His work in film widened the audience for his distinctive presence.

Roles and productions
In 1991 he founded the Hamazgayin Theatre. Shakespeare's King Lear belonged to its early repertoire, placing the actor and the moral struggles of the character at the centre of the new company's work.

Legacy
Sargsyan's legacy includes both memorable performances and a theatre built for future generations. Teaching and institution-building extended his artistic convictions beyond his own roles.
