About the Foundation

Stewards of Armenia's living memory.ABOUT US

A non-profit dedicated to the permanent, open digital preservation of Armenian cultural heritage.

Mission

A permanent, open digital memory of Armenia.

Armenian cultural heritage is not merely a testimony to the past. It is a living memory, a foundation of identity and a bond between generations, preserved through manuscripts, architecture, art, music, traditions, language and historical memory. We work alongside the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Matenadaran, regional museums and a community of diaspora partners to preserve the country’s cultural memory at archival quality.

DIGITAL PRESERVATION

Cultural heritage can be endangered by the passage of time, natural deterioration, wars, neglect, improper restoration or disruptions in the transmission of knowledge. When a historical monument is damaged, a manuscript is lost or a tradition ceases to be passed down, the loss affects not only an individual cultural value but an entire layer of historical memory. The purpose of digital preservatio

WORLDWIDE DIGITAL ACCESSIBILITY

Armenian culture is not limited by geographical borders. It lives in Armenia, in historical Armenian settlements and in Armenian communities established in countries throughout the world. At the same time, valuable information about Armenian heritage is often scattered across different sources, accessible only to limited audiences or available in a single language. This makes it difficult for both

EDUCATION AND CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

Heritage is preserved only when it is recognised, studied and transmitted. Without historical context, a cultural value may become nothing more than a beautiful image. Without explanation, a monument may remain merely a structure, a manuscript a closed book and a tradition an incomprehensible custom. For this reason, Armenian Treasures regards the presentation of cultural heritage as an educationa

Why now

Armenia preserves more than 24,000 monuments above ground and an order of magnitude more beneath. Each year, weathering, neglect and conflict claim irreplaceable detail. A high-resolution digital twin — accessible, redundant, free — is the only way to ensure that the work of medieval masons, scribes and weavers reaches the next thousand years.

How we work

Fieldwork is led by certified Matterport operators and drone pilots, supported by architectural historians. Captured data is processed, annotated and reviewed by our curators before being added to the public archive.
