Where a musical life becomes tangible
Opened in 1967, Armenia’s first musical memorial museum occupies the apartment where Alexander Spendiaryan lived from 1926 to 1928. The collection includes handwritten scores, letters, photographs and personal belongings.
The composer’s instruments and restored study offer a close encounter with the working life behind his music. An unusual highlight is the Spendiarophone, created according to his idea for The Three Palms: a reminder that composing can involve inventing a new sound as well as writing notes.
